Education Games for Riana

Riana Douglas   Hamilton West

“We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” – George Bernard Shaw

Riana sits opposite me and the first thing I notice is her generous smile and warm eyes. Riana is new to the school and feels as if her classroom is stark and devoid of history simply because she has yet to make it. She has a restless urgent need to fill her classroom to the brim with colour, art and games.

Riana wants to entice, excite and captivate the imaginations of her children and one tool she'd like to use is educational games. She wants to reach them through play. I was grinning just listening to her enthusiasm. Once upon a time I had a teacher like Riana and it was one of the best years of my childhood. Plato was onto it first.

“Do not keep children to their studies by compulsion but by play.” – Plato
